Laboratory IT Systems Business Analyst, Mid

Key Role:

Identify and document systems' scope, objectives, and requirements based on both user needs and a good understanding of SDLC and Agile methodologies. Devise and modify procedures to solve complex problems considering systems capabilities and limitations, operating time, and form of preferred results. Conduct analysis sessions with users and assist with the creation of documentation, including functional and non-functional requirements, use cases, data dictionaries, design specifications, and wireframes, and translate into proper system requirement specifications. Document and track requirements from analysis through testing within Team Foundation Server (TFS) while working within an iterative development model. Apply understanding of public health and laboratory science operations, processes, and methodologies to system requirements, user experience design, training materials, and end-user engagement. Initiate working sessions with developers and architects to translate user requirements to system functionality and specifications. This position is open to remote delivery anywhere within the U.S., to include the District of Columbia.

Basic Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of experience with laboratory workflows, including sequencing, molecular, serological, or culture-based assays
  • 2+ years of experience developing client-ready Microsoft PowerPoint presentations, documents, and reports using Microsoft Word, coordinating meetings using Microsoft Outlook, and conducting large volume data analysis using Microsoft Excel
  • Knowledge of health informatics
  • Knowledge of Agile project management
  • Ability to work well with various stakeholders with different backgrounds, work on multiple projects, and meet tight deadlines
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust or Suitability/Fitness determination based on client requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree

Additional Qualifications:

  • Experience developing system requirements for an IT system used in the laboratory or public health industry
  • Experience with data visualization and creating dashboards and reports
  • Knowledge of Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS)

The proposed salary range for this position in Colorado is 70,000 to 80,000. Final salary will be determined based on various factors.
