Products and Solutions Legal Counsel

Key Role:

Partner with the cross-functional teams to facilitate the development of products and solutions to Federal Government and Commercial Customers. Work in close collaboration with the Government Contracts Practice Group legal team to leverage best practices to mitigate risk, ensure a consistent approach to development and sales across supported market groups, and operationalize a broad range of risk mitigation techniques throughout the product life cycle. Coordinate new product and solution review process, provide subject matter expertise on product compliance regulatory regimes in the government and commercial sectors, create standard contracts, and coordinate with other subject matter experts in the Legal Department and across the firm to position the business for compliance with anticipated ethical and regulatory regimes. Leverage expertise in federal government contracts counseling, data rights, contract negotiations, and software or solutions sales to anticipate risk and protect the firm’s strategic investments. This position is open to remote delivery anywhere within the U.S., to include the District of Columbia.

Basic Qualifications:

-5+ years of experience with legal counseling on product and solution development and sales, primarily to federal government clients, including drafting and negotiating product licenses, performing regulatory reviews, implementing risk mitigation plans, and developing data rights protection best practices

-Experience with government contracts law in a law firm or corporate legal department, including Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR), Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation (DFARS), negotiating other transaction agreements, and federal procurement statutes and regulations

-Ability to translate highly technical concepts into plain language

-Ability to work under pressure, prioritize and manage the workload and simultaneous tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment

-Ability to be highly responsive and organized

-Ability to provide practical and pragmatic advice to legal and business colleagues

-JD degree and member in good standing of any US state bar

Additional Qualifications:

-Experience with advising professional services companies in the commercial or government industry

-Experience with advising on all stages of product life cycle, including developing business case and sales strategy

-Experience with negotiating commercial intellectual property issues relevant to product development and delivery agreements

-Experience with advising on and conversant in emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, data security, incident response, and other highly technical concepts and associated regulatory and contractual requirements

-Experience with drafting and negotiating contractual requirements for software development, systems, products, and solutions agreements, including change control processes, other delivery-focused mitigation approaches, or acceptance criteria

-Ability to show superior legal and analytical expertise and business-oriented approach to problem-solving

-Ability to display excellent judgment and initiative in selecting the most effective solutions

-Possession of excellent organizational, interpersonal, client relations, and team skills
-Possession of excellent verbal and written communication skills

-Ability to obtain a security clearance
