Legislative Affairs Specialist

Key Role:

Support an intelligence community (IC) client office with legislative affairs activities, including monitoring the status of draft and final defense legislation, pertinent hearings, markups, and floor actions. Prepare materials and conduct research for congressional hearings, engagements, and inquiries. Provide high-level, comprehensive summaries of events of interest and conduct other duties, as required.

Basic Qualifications:

-7+ years of experience in the legislative affairs field or department-level planning or execution

-Experience with legislative and regulatory documents

-Knowledge of the legislative and regulatory process

-Ability to conduct deep research with strict attention to detail

-TS/SCI clearance

-BA or BS degree

Additional Qualifications:

-Experience with reviewing and analyzing congressional hearing transcripts and preparing high-level and comprehensive summaries

-Experience with researching and writing background papers, talking points, oral and written statements for the record, and briefing materials

-Ability to develop and deliver materials supporting senior leadership congressional engagements

-TS/SCI clearance with a polygraph

-BA or BS degree in Political Science, Mass Communications, or a related field preferred; MA or MS degree a plus

Clearance:

Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information; TS/SCI clearance is required.
