Physicist, Senior

Key Role:

Work as a Physicist supporting an intelligence client's foreign ground force reporting responsibility. Work as part of a diverse contract team performing in-depth technical analysis of foreign conventional and irregular warfare threats to US ground force systems, combat support systems, and US operations. Provide expertise in performing research or other professional and scientific work in the investigation and application of the relations between space, time, matter, and energy in the areas of mechanics, sound, optics, heat, electricity, magnetism, radiation, or atomic and nuclear phenomena. Exercise expertise related to advanced power and energy, directed energy weapons including; radio frequency and high-power lasers, electro-dynamic kinetic energy weapons, electro-optics, lasers, microelectronics, RF sub-component technologies, and electronic attack/electronic protection algorithms. Forecast emerging and disruptive technologies that can span a broad range of topic areas to include but not be limited to: quantum information sciences, computing, key distribution, cryptography, communications, sensors, artificial intelligence, autonomy, counter-autonomy, advanced computing, supercomputing, high performance computing, optical, neuromorphic, encryption, and cryptanalysis. Integrate data analytics (DA) into all-source production working alongside industry leading data scientists to directly support the client’s production, plans, and operations. Develop and support force-on-force ground scenarios, identify significant intelligence trends within a range of activities, and deliver strategic and anticipatory finished assessments. 

Basic Qualifications:

  • Ability to support defense analytical requirements with enhanced scientific research capability/limitation analysis, reverse engineering analysis/characterizations, facility and vulnerability assessments  
  • Ability to conduct independent research, technical writing, modeling, and overseeing/consulting with allied engineering disciplines on, but not limited to, the areas of fiber optics, acoustics, semiconductors, lasers, weapons development and testing and identifying the characteristics of hard and deeply buried targets  
  • Ability to provide in-depth scientific and technical analysis to provide support for analytic operations and knowledge management issues across organizational and intra-IC boundaries while clearly articulates key findings
  • Ability to define comprehensive, new, or unique research approaches that enable rigorous assessments to address and contribute to high-level tasks  
  • Ability to review analytic products for cogent arguments, tradecraft standards, and adequate support for conclusions
  • TS/SCI clearance
  • Master’s degree and 8 years of experience as a Physicist on US Army or DoD programs and projects

Additional Qualifications:

  • Experience with the application of quantitative and qualitative analytic methods  
  • Knowledge of NGIC, Army, DIA, NSA, CIA, and interagency operations  
  • Knowledge of DoD Intelligence processes, activities, standards, and available analytic tools with general AART operations  
  • Knowledge of Conventional and Irregular Warfare concepts and operations  

Clearance:

Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information; TS/SCI clearance is required.
