Technical Writer

Key Role:

Work with an Air Force program office in a badgeless multi-program environment managing the full scope of Technical Manual (TM) early design, development, and delivery of satellite command & control (C2) ground stations and ancillary supporting systems. Initiate early dialogue between the System Program Office (SPO) and other command organizations to ensure contract manufacturers’ TMs are prepared in accordance with SPO guidance and instructions enabling accurate and cost-effective technical manuals which meets the needs of the program operations and maintenance users. Identify TM production risks early in the development cycle and develop or recommend actions mitigating such risks. Schedule and orchestrate 30/60/90 Interim Product Review TM activities and analyze, track, distribute, and brief TM meeting results, as required. Schedule and orchestrate Technical Order Review Board (TORB) meetings, as required. This position is located in either El Segundo, CA or Colorado Springs, CO.

Basic Qualifications:

-5+ years of experience in a DoD Technical Order Management Authority or Logistics role

-Experience with Microsoft Office tools, including Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook

-Ability to travel up to 25% of the time

-Ability to interface with a large community of internal and external customers and stakeholders

-Ability to lead team meetings

-Ability to obtain a security clearance

-BA or BS degree

Additional Qualifications:

-Experience with working in the DoD Instruction 5000.02 Operation of the Defense Acquisition System

-Experience with various Air Force guidance documents, including Technical Order 00-5-3 or Integrated Product Support Element Guidebook

-Experience with Air Force systems and processes

-Experience with Air Force satellite command & control ground systems

-Ability to demonstrate texpertise in technical writing

-Knowledge with Orbit Handbook development
