Vulnerability Management Policy SME

Everyone knows security needs to be “baked in” to a system architecture, but you actually know how to bake it in. You can identify and implement ways to harden systems and reduce their attack surface. What if you could use your Cyber engineering skills to design and build secure systems for the Department of Veterans Affairs? We’re looking for an engineer who can create solutions for the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) that will stand up to even the most advanced Cyber threats.

As a Vulnerability Management Policy SME on our project, you’ll provide of vulnerability management practice services for the support of integrated security systems and solutions. You’ll coordinate work with in-house teams to identify the right mix of tools and techniques to translate your customer’s IT needs and future goals into a plan that will enable secure and effective solutions. We need to come up with the best solution, so you’ll investigate new techniques, break free from the legacy model, and go where the industry is going. You’ll lead the team through a critical approach to policy and standard design, providing alternatives and customizing solutions to maintain a balance of security and mission needs. This is a chance to make a difference in the security of healthcare privacy. Your technical expertise will be vital as you help customers overcome their most difficult challenges by integrating secure practices like provide recommendations, create documentation and revise documentation and guidance for standards and policies. You’ll be able to broaden your skillset into areas like extensive expertise in all aspects of Cybersecurity with a vast array of IT systems involving end user, including enterprise-level networks while building peace of mind in a critical infrastructure. You Have:

-5+ years of experience with creating, revising, and updating IT standards and policies

-Experience with strategic planning to improve Vulnerability Management (VM) programs in large and complex environments

-Experience with engineering, implementing, and monitoring security measures for the protection of systems, networks, and information

-Experience with vulnerability management and enterprise remediation efforts

-Experience with Microsoft Teams, Microsoft Visio, and Microsoft Office

-Knowledge of NIST Special Publications, including 800-137 (& 137A), SP 800-128, SP 800-40, or SP 800-39

-Knowledge of System Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI) methodologies

-Ability to assess and categorize a vulnerabilities impact on enterprise assets by implementing a risk scoring system.

-Ability to identify how controls are implemented and shape standards

-Ability to obtain a security clearance

-HS diploma or GED and 15 years of experience with security analysis or MA or MS degree in CS, EE, Engineering, or Technology and 5 years of experience with security analysis

Nice If You Have:

-Experience with Nessus, BigFix, Red Seal, RSA Archer, or SCCM

-Experience with NIST security controls, governance, risk management, and compliance

-Experience with maintaining a secure Cyber environment through configuration management, administration, and response actions

-Knowledge of the Risk Management Framework (RMF) process

-Possession of excellent oral and written communication skills that is proactive in nature with customer satisfaction as the primary goal

-Public Trust clearance
