Strategic Communications Specialist

Key Role:

Create, design, and write complex publication materials, employee communications, newsletters, bulletins, and informational materials, for internal or external audiences. Work closely with subject matter experts and develop an original approach for each product and deliverable. Will work with more senior staff to finalize materials.

Basic Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in the strategic communication field, including change management, content development, and implementation planning

  • Experience with writing and editing material in a journalistic style

  • Experience with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

  • Experience with Web graphics, social media, and online marketing

  • Experience working with Department of Defense contracts or clients

  • Knowledge of Department of Defense public affairs and communications strategies and tactics

  • Secret clearance

  • Bachelor's degree

Additional Qualifications:

  • Experience working with media outlets, media engagements and media roundtables

  • Experience with meeting short-term milestones and requirements

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple tasks and deadlines

  • Ability to work with senior government officials under tight deadlines and translate ideas and concepts into professional communication products, including speeches, talking points, PowerPoint presentations, articles, e-mails to staff, and other communication products, as needed
