Aviation Environmental Specialist, Mid

Key Role:

Provide onsite client support and project management support to an aviation client, including national environmental and energy program support for and programmatic requirements regarding National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), aviation noise, and air traffic operations. Perform data collection and coordination for public inquiries and reports. Track, monitor, and maintain records of public inquiries about aviation noise issues. Review responses to public inquiries to ensure consistency and responsiveness. Perform multiple, varying, and complex assignments under minimal direction. Compile statistics on the numbers and types of complaints and inquiries. Follow up with the public for additional information, resolve issues associated with delayed or unresolved inquiries, and respond to information requests from managers.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Experience with direct client support maintaining environmental program data in an information management system for tracking and reporting

  • Experience with data analysis and problem solving, including using Microsoft Excel to analyze data and Microsoft PowerPoint to present findings

  • Knowledge of the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) review process and the public involvement process

  • Knowledge of air quality, noise, and environmental justice-affected environment categories

  • Knowledge of agency community relations activities

  • Ability to interpret agency policies and procedures

  • Ability to develop clearly written communications, including editing technical documents

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust or Suitability/Fitness determination based on client requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and 2+ years of experience with aviation and environmental project management or Master’s degree and 1+ years of experience with aviation and environmental project management 

Additional Qualifications:

  • Experience with supporting federal clients

  • Experience in performing geospatial analysis with ArcGIS tools

  • Ability to describe information based on target audience

  • Ability to efficiently balance workloads, multi-task, and coordinate multiple simultaneous projects

  • Ability to facilitate meetings, including delivering oral presentations, listening, and interpreting accurately what others are saying

  • Ability to pay strict attention to detail 

  • Ability to meet deadlines under time constraints
