Electromagnetic Engineer, Senior

The Challenge:

What if you could use your engineering skills to transform the Navy? As an electrical engineer, you understand the power behind complex systems. That knowledge is key when it comes to working within the electromagnetic spectrum. We’re looking for an electrical engineer who can use their skills to diagnose, measure, troubleshoot, analyze, and operate Department of Defense (DoD) weapons and electronic systems.

Our team provides engineering and technical services in support of the Navy's electromagnetic environmental effects (E3) mission. That’s why we need you, an electrical engineer, who specializes in E3 engineering as it relates to Radiation Hazards (RADHAZ). You will evaluate the Hazards from Electromagnetic Radiation to Ordnance (HERO), Hazards from Electromagnetic Radiation to Personnel (HERP), and Hazards from Electromagnetic Radiation to Fuel (HERF), to help us design and develop DoD weapon and electronic systems. You’ll conduct surveys, plan/prepare, test/evaluate, and predict/identify within this space. You’ll directly impact the Navy warfighting mission by ensuring DoD weapon and electronic systems are maintained, advanced, and operate as intended. We’ll look to you to share your electrical engineering expertise through leadership and mentoring junior staff. This is a chance to use your experience-based knowledge in E3 while broadening your skillset into areas like ground, air, maritime, space-based, and other spectrum dependent systems. Join us and take on exciting challenges in the Naval Warfare Center environment as we continue leading engineering innovations that will support the defense of warfighters across the globe.

Empower change with us.

You Have:

  • 8 years of experience in Electromagnetic Environmental Effects (E3) engineering/analytical with operation and evaluation of DoD shore-based weapons and electronic systems
  • 4 years of experience conducting Radio Frequency (RF) measurements and performing shore surveys using equipment, including probes, oscilloscopes, signal generation, and analyzers
  • 4 years of experience preparing technical documentation, including test plans, test reports, evaluations, detailed analysis, and technical presentations to stakeholders
  • 2 years of experience with reviewing ordnance and electronic systems
  • 2 years of experience predicting and identifying HERO, HERP, and HERF shore problems, defining and designing corrective measures, and maintaining and updating documentation in DoD knowledge management systems
  • Knowledge of military standards and specifications for electromagnetic effects
  • Knowledge of ordnance handling, ordnance loading areas, and shipboard emitter parameters
  • Secret clearance
  • BA or BS degree

Nice If You Have:

  • Experience using programming tools, such as AutoDesk and MATLAB
  • Experience conducting analysis in other RADHAZ environments
  • Knowledge of shipboard topside occupied environment
  • BA or BS degree in EE, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or Mathematics preferred; MA or MS degree in EE a plus

Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information; Secret clearance is required.
