Laser Targeting and Tracking Engineer, Senior

The Challenge:

Our team supports the design, development, and testing of state-of-the-art directed energy weapons to enhance warfighter capabilities. That’s why we need you, an electrical engineer, who specializes in image or signal processing and experience with sensor fusion and sensor requirements as they relate to passive and active tracking design and development, to help us design, develop, and test tracking systems for any laser weapon systems designed to designate, track, and engage with a high energy laser. You’ll directly impact the U.S. Navy and other Department of Defense entities by proving laser/EO targeting and tracking technical expertise. We’ll look to you to share your electrical engineering expertise through leadership and mentoring junior staff. This is a chance to use your experience-based knowledge in targeting and tracking while broadening your skillset into areas like directed energy weapons systems. You Have:

  • 10 + years of experience developing, designing, and testing tracking systems for high energy laser (HEL) weapon systems
  • Experience with image or signal processing and the design of track algorithms, including centroid, hot-spot, leading edge, contrast tracking, and track handoff
  • Experience with control architectures, gated imagery, pulsed and continuous wave illuminators, and boresight alignment
  • Knowledge of sensor fusion and sensor requirements as they relate to passive and active tracking design and development
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a dynamic, fast paced, and geographically disparate team
  • Secret clearance
  • Bachelor’s degree

Nice If You Have:

  • 5+ years of experience with U.S. Navy or armed services’ laser and EO systems research and development programs
  • Master’s degree in Engineering or Science

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual’s particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $73,000.00 to $166,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen’s total compensation package for employees.
