Data Engineer, Senior

As a data engineer, you have the chance to develop and deploy the pipelines and platforms that make this data meaningful. This is an opportunity to support data engineering activities on some of the most mission-driven projects in the industry. Driving law enforcement modernization, you’ll have the chance to architect data systems, build ETL pipelines, and perform data ingestion. From performing analytical exploration and examination of data to leading the assessment, design, building, and maintenance of scalable platforms, you’ll guide your clients to solve their most pressing challenges. This position is open to remote delivery anywhere within the U.S., including the District of Columbia.

You Have:

  • 5+ years of experience architecting and implementing cloud-based data solutions
  • 5+ years of experience building or maintaining software systems, which may include software engineering, API development, data pipeline development, or data infrastructure management
  • 5+ years of experience establishing and implementing data management solutions that address all aspects of data usage, governance and life cycle management
  • 2+ years of experience with leading and developing data architecture for operational systems
  • Experience participating in an agile DevOps build and release environment
  • Experience with distributed storage technologies including Hadoop, Spark, or public cloud object storage such as AWS S3 or Azure Blob
  • Experience managing or integrating with relational databases, including MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle or public cloud services such as AWS RDS or Azure Database
  • Experience with data pipeline and ETL technologies including Apache NiFi, StreamSets, or AWS Glue
  • Ability to obtain a security clearance
  • Bachelor's degree

Nice If You Have:

  • Experience with the development of large, mission-critical workflow and document management systems
  • Experience with a range of programming languages and technologies, including Docker, Swarm, Saltstack, Bash, JavaScript, Python, Git, Jenkins, Linus, HAProxy, AWS Cloud, ELK, Java, Kafka, MongoDB, and Zookeeper
  • Experience with cloud service providers including AWS, Azure or Google
  • Experience in defining, building and executing cloud-based strategies to migrate on-prem data systems 
  • Experience with implementing protocols such REST, SOAP, MQ, TCP/IP, and JSON
  • Experience with DevOps development tools, including Nexus and Jenkins, Amazon Web Services (AWS), and Atlassian tool suites, including JIRA, Confluence, Fisheye or Crucible, and Stash
  • Knowledge of software programming for virtualized and Cloud computing environments
  • Knowledge of data service and deployment frameworks including Spring, Docker and Kubernetes
  • Ability to organize and lead large technical teams in Kanban, Agile, or DevOps processes

The proposed salary range for this position in Colorado is $120,000 to $140,000. Final salary will be determined based on various factors.
