Legal Operations Lead

Key Role:

Work in direct partnership with Senior Legal, Ethics, and Compliance (LEC) Leadership, the Legal Operations Lead will help develop and execute Booz Allen’s Legal strategic roadmap and drive continuous improvement. We are seeking a results-oriented professional with proven and effective execution skills, the ability to operate autonomously in a fast-paced environment, and work proactively with various teams across Booz Allen Hamilton. The Legal Operations Lead will optimize the Legal team’s tools, technology and processes, by leading the effort to develop, implement and enhance department processes, systems and tools and making recommendations to senior leadership on the technology direction for the department. The selected individual for this role will also have a demonstrated track record of delivering exceptional strategic leadership and will help translate Legal’s goals and priorities into a strategic plan while at the same time assisting the Legal leadership team with day-to-day department operations, including reporting, dashboarding, budgeting, and financial management. The Legal Operations Lead will also be responsible for developing and maintaining consolidated legal department reporting, including performance metrics (KPIs), financials, program management reviews, and leveraging benchmarking survey results. In addition, this role will also coordinate people-related initiatives and develop a communication and development program for the LEC department, including leadership team meetings, all hands meetings, and LEC team retreats. The Legal Operations Lead will also be integral in designing, implementing and managing a comprehensive external legal resource management program, including manages services, vendors, and law firms.

Basic Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of experience with working in a professional environment with responsibility over operational and strategic issues for a corporate department
  • 6+ years of experience with working in legal operations with a record of accomplishment and driving results, including strategic planning, financial management, vendor management, technology management, and legal data analytics
  • Experience with strategic planning, budget management, and reporting
  • Experience with managing key financial controls needed to support legal operations successfully
  • Experience with creating and delivering executive-level presentations
  • Ability to manage multiple initiatives, adjust quickly to shifting priorities, and to solve problems and deal with complex situations
  • Ability to synthesize discussions into actionable deliverables and collect, analyze, and use data to make, recommend or enable decisions 
  • Ability to work with and influence a diversity of stakeholders at all levels internally and externally
  • Ability to process information, learn quickly, and think critically to demonstrate a high degree of maturity, discretion, and integrity to handle sensitive, and confidential information
  • BA or BS degree

Additional Qualifications:

  • Experience with developing strategic or departmental planning materials that required consensus gathering from multiple constituents
  • Knowledge of, and hands-on practical experience with, technology tools and applications typically used in Legal department settings
  • Ability to synthetize information and present key data points in reports and viewgraphs
  • Ability to effectively manage time, prioritize tasks and work within deadlines with little supervision in a fast pace environment
  • Ability to be a team player who fosters professionalism, integrity, and confidentiality in all actions
  • Possession of excellent oral and written communication skills, facilitating clear and open communication at all levels of the organization
  • Possession of excellent business partnering skills
