Policy Accountant, Mid

Key Role:

Ensure the proper application of US generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and provide transaction-oriented accounting and reporting assistance, including assisting with analyzing the development of accounting policies and preparing technical accounting memoranda. Support periodic close and reporting procedures associated with revenue, contingency accruals, share-based payment compensation, derivatives, and non-routine transactions. Participate in the implementation of company-wide accounting policies, new accounting standards, and other applicable financial reporting guidance. Interact with Booz Allen’s external auditors on highly technical and complex accounting areas. Contribute to Booz Allen’s overall system of internal controls and Sarbanes-Oxley compliance, including the updating and documenting of revenue recognition process flows and controls. Monitor existing and emerging financial accounting and reporting requirements. Due to the nature of work performed within this facility, U.S. citizenship is required.

    Basic Qualifications:

    -3+ years of experience with US GAAP or SEC reporting for a public company or public accounting firm

    -Experience with the Microsoft Office Suite, including Access, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word

    -Experience with performing data analytic procedures in a professional work environment

    -BA or BS degree in Accounting or Finance

    Additional Qualifications:

    -Experience with revenue recognition and the accounting and reporting practices of a publicly-held IT government services contractor preferred

    -Experience with the Deltek Costpoint ERP system

    -Ability to make well-reasoned decisions in a professionally skeptical manner

    -Possession of excellent analytical and problem-solving skills

    -Possession of excellent oral and written communication skills

    -Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license preferred
