Software Factory Engineer

The Challenge

In this role, you’ll serve as a Lead Engineer for the Software Factory. Our mission is to develop a hardened Platform as a Service hosting the tools software development teams need to be productive on day one. This solution will set the bar for Platform Engineering excellence and be used by projects to jumpstart client delivery. 

As a Lead Engineer, you’ll serve as a critical individual contributor in building high-quality solutions that deliver customer value by partnering with product owners and stakeholders. The ideal candidate has a passion for mentoring other engineers. You’ll play a critical role in building a culture of engineering excellence, collaborating with the team to build consensus on technical solutions, and turning great ideas into great plans. This position is open to remote delivery anywhere within the U.S., to include the District of Columbia.

You Have:  

  • 3+ years of experience as a Cloud or DevOps Engineer 
  • Experience designing and automating the deployment of cloud infrastructure with tools, including Terraform and Terragrunt 
  • Experience with containerization, Container Orchestration Platforms, and Kubernetes, including RKE2, EKS, or AKS
  • Experience with software development, including Golang, Python, or TypeScript
  • Experience supporting teams leveraging modern software delivery best practices, including Agile, DevSecOps, or Microservice Architectures
  • Experience working in collaborative engineering environments utilizing practices like Pull Request Reviews, and drafting and reviewing Technical Design Documents 
  • Ability to obtain a security clearance 
  • Bachelor’s degree

Nice If You Have:

  • Experience with running production systems  
  • Experience working with Development teams, Instrument infrastructure, and services with monitoring, alerting, logging, and distributed tracing tools
  • Experience working within Federal Government environments 
  • Ability to run and maintain different Product environments, including dev, staging, sandbox, or production
  • Ability to mentor junior staff

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual’s particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $106,200.00 to $242,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen’s total compensation package for employees.
