Autonomy Engineer

Key Role:

Orchestrate the development of autonomous unmanned systems and solutions encompassing hardware and software through entire life cycle, from requirements determination through operations, sustainment and system retirement, with an emphasis on autonomy, unmanned aviation safety and flight management, and tailoring of processes to meet the needs of specific projects. Apply leading-edge principles, theories, and concepts for autonomy and unmanned operations; contributes to the development of new principles and concepts leveraging AI/ML. Works on unusually complex problems and provides highly innovative solutions. Operate with substantial latitude for unreviewed action or decision; mentor or supervise employees in both firm and technical competencies.

Basic Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of experience as a systems engineer with DoD or Navy threat systems
  • 5+ years of experience with unmanned aviation systems
  • Experience with SysML, Cameo Enterprise Architect, MagicDraw or MATLAB
  • Knowledge of system reliability metrics
  • Knowledge of UL 4600, ISO-26262, MIL-STD-882 safety specifications
  • Knowledge of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning
  • Knowledge of typical unmanned aircraft system components and how those components interact
  • Secret clearance
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Electrical Engineering

Additional Qualifications:

  • Experience with active sensing and information fusion from multiple sensors
  • Experience with Excel, SQL, or Tableau
  • Knowledge of predictive behavior, immersive environments, modeling and human and system interaction
  • Ability to communicate complex goals into straightforward topics for execution
  • Top Secret clearance
  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Electrical Engineering
