Strategic Engagement Planner

Key Role:
Provide program support to US military strategic engagements with foreign partners during multinational senior leader meetings, seminars, and conferences. Conduct analyses of engagement objectives to ensure they align with combatant command and service component security cooperation objectives. Assist with the coordination of event moderators and briefers to prepare presentation material whose content aligns with event objectives. Provide event planning and execution support, including scheduling, content preparation, and coordination among US and foreign participating organizations. Provide French-to-English and English-to-French translation and simultaneous interpretation ensuring content accuracy and clarity in consideration of local dialects. Manage information and communications related to command strategic engagements through client designated information systems, including SharePoint and All Partners Access Network. This position will require frequent travel throughout the AFRICOM and EUCOM area.

Basic Qualifications:

-6+ years of experience with planning and executing organizational events, including symposia, conferences, and seminars

-2+ years of experience with translation and consecutive interpretation

-Experience with Microsoft Office, including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Project

-Experience in leading planning teams, working groups, and meetings with 10+ personnel

-Ability to conduct professional level English-to-French and French-to-English interpretation and translation with a minimum of Defense Language Proficiency Test (DLPT) General Professional Proficiency (3/3/3), Department of State Minimum Professional Proficiency Code 3, or equivalent

-Ability to be a self-starter, work independently and as part of a team, manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment, analyze complex data, and prioritize tasks

-Ability to travel through the EUCOM and AFRICOM AORs

-Secret clearance required

-BA or BS degree required

Additional Qualifications:

-Experience with knowledge management, including SharePoint 2013 or working as a Certified Knowledge Manager (CKM)

-Experience in coordinating activities with the Department of State and US embassies

-Experience with overcoming bureaucratic and cultural challenges while building partner nation operational and institutional capability and capacity

-Experience in working with DoD security cooperation or security assistance programs

-Experience in the US European Command (EUCOM), US Africa Command (AFRICOM), US Air Forces in Europe, or Air Forces Africa (USAFE-AFAFRICA) AORs

-Knowledge of security cooperation principles or working with foreign partners

-Knowledge of formal military and DoD staffing and coordination processes

-Ability to demonstrate proficiency in Portuguese

-Possession of excellent interpersonal skills

-Possession of excellent oral and written communications skills

-Active Top Secret clearance

-BA or BS degree in International Relations or Foreign Policy

-Completion of Defense Institute for Security Cooperation Studies training
