Earth Scientist

Key Role:

Provide broad-based support to various DoD environmental clients. Consult on of studies, analyses, and evaluations and provide technical expertise associated with geology, hydrology, and environmental investigation and remediation activities. Analyze and interpret regulatory, policy, and guidance requirements. Conduct research and analysis, data evaluation, and data interpretation to build actionable recommendations. Provide technical field oversight for DoD sites currently undergoing or proposed to undergo environmental investigation and site restoration effort. Prepare and review environmental restoration technical documents, including work plans and reports, for investigations, interim actions, mitigation actions, groundwater modeling and geologic modeling. Plan and facilitate conferences and meetings.

Basic Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience in an environmental technical role for environmental compliance and remediation programs specific to DoD or other federal and state environmental restoration projects
  • Experience with providing technical input for site restoration activities, including site assessments and investigations, remediation technology evaluation and implementation, and technical support for site closure
  • Experience with DoD Remediation
  • Experience with Emerging Contaminants in assessing, understanding their nature and behavior in the environment, mitigation, and remedial actions
  • Experience with RCRA and CERCLA programs
  • Experience with federal, state, or local regulations and statutes, Air Force, and DoD regulations
  • Knowledge of broad-based technical and scientific methods, including lithological modeling, groundwater fate and transport modeling, behavior of chemicals in various media and behavior of chemicals in the environment
  • Ability to obtain a security clearance
  • Bachelor’s degree in Geology or Geoscience

Additional Qualifications:

  • Experience with geologic or hydrologic modeling and data visualization
  • Experience with performing oversight of geological and drilling operations
  • Experience with records management, project tracking, SharePoint, and database maintenance
  • Ability to travel within the US and support clients at federal installations
  • Possession of excellent organizational skills
  • Possession of excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Master’s degree
  • 40 hour HAZWOPER Certification
  • Professional Geoscientist Certification
