Maritime Software Systems Engineer

The Challenge:

Are you looking for an opportunity to not just develop software, but to build a system that will support next generation unmanned maritime systems? As a full-stack developer, you can solve a problem with a complete end-to-end solution in a fast-paced, agile environment. We’re looking for a developer with the skills needed to build Command and Control (C2) and other functional sensor capabilities for unmanned surface and undersea vehicles from vision to production-ready system.

This role is more than just coding. We need a full-stack developer who will use their passion to learn new tools and techniques, and identify and implement system improvements. Using an AGILE development environment working with Java and C++ you’ll work with the development team to build C2, sensor, and other functional capabilities for next generation unmanned maritime systems. You’ll analyze the needs and the environment to make sure the solution you’re developing considers the current architecture and operating environment, as well as future functionality and enhancements. You Have:

  • 2+ years of experience as a software developer supporting maritime technology, unmanned systems technology, or electric vehicle technology
  • 3+ years of experience in coding with programming languages, including Java and C++/C
  • 3+ years of experience in working with data base management systems, including MySQL, PostgreSQL, or ObjectStore
  • Active Secret clearance
  • BA or BS degree

Nice If You Have:

  • Experience as an Embedded Software Engineer
  • Experience with Control Systems
  • Experience with (PLC) Programmable Logic Controllers
  • 2+ years of experience in writing software specific to undersea unmanned autonomous systems, including software code for underwater system autonomy, unmanned vehicle control, and underwater payload autonomy and control
  • Experience with shell scripting, Perl, JavaScript, XML/KML/XSD, Google Proto Buffer, PHP, Python, or Scala
  • Experience with programming tools such as Apache Tomcat, including Java Servlet hosting, Apache HTTP Server, Apache ActiveMQ, Apache Maven, Apache Commons Daemon, Java Development Kit and Java Runtime Environment, Apache Tomcat, including Java Servlet hosting, Apache HTTP Server, Apache ActiveMQ, Apache Maven, Apache Commons Daemon, Java Development Kit or Java Runtime Environment
  • Experience with Jenkins Continuous Integration (CM), Nexus Server binary repository (CM), Git Source code repository (CM) or Bugzilla (CM),
  • Experience Google Web Toolkit, Sencha GXT, Netbeans, Eclipse, Visual Studio 2008, Visual Studio 2010, Visual Studio Express 2015, Keil ST Microcontroller Integrated Developer Environment, GeoServer WMS Server, RedHat, Gradle, CMake, NETCDF libraries and API, Putty/WinSCP, Google Earth, OpenCPN, Wireshark, Nmap, EclipseLink, Phantom JS, FOP PDF formatter, WorldWind Mapping, API, or Packet Manager
  • Possession of excellent oral and written communication skills
  • MS degree in CS, Software Engineering, or related field
  • Information Assurance (IA) Certification, such as a CompTIA Security+.
