Senior Clinical Research Director

Key Role:

Apply medical expertise with traumatic brain injury (TBI), strategic and executive leadership, program management, and analyze policy to oversee a large network of brain injury clinicians and researchers. Provide leadership and mentoring within a clinical research environment by interacting with staff at all levels to foster collaborative research activities. Function independently and professionally while maintaining flexibility to re-prioritize quickly. Provide expert clinical judgment on the impacts of traumatic brain injury (TBI) and leverage the knowledge and experience with the Military Health System, combat and deployment issues, and psychological health issues to contribute to improving patient care to DoD beneficiaries. Facilitate and present information to small and large groups of DoD leadership, conferences, roundtables, and symposiums.

Basic Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in clinical or research activities in traumatic brain injury (TBI)

  • 5+ years of experience in research as demonstrated by peer reviewed publications and presentations required 

  • 2+ years of experience with managing clinical and research staff

  • Experience with brain injuries required

  • Experience in in clinical investigations, administration, and education

  • Experience with adhering to legal, professional, and ethical codes for research, including clinical trials, human subject protections, confidentiality, and privacy

  • Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary health care team

  • Ability to obtain a security clearance

  • PhD degree

Additional Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in DoD, military and VA health settings preferred

  • Experience in DoD and VA systems of care preferred

  • Knowledge and experience with military health system, combat, deployment issues, and psychological health issues in the military are highly desired

  • Possession of excellent oral and written communication skills
