Clinical SME, Senior

Key Role:

Support the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Electronic Health Record Modernization (EHRM) program as a Clinical SME. Work independently with other information services and clinical analysts, applying specific knowledge, skills and abilities to ensure the Cerner and OEHRM goals. Ensure Cerner Implementation is optimized for the delivery of clinical and business services in support of the OEHRM Strategic plan. Support optimization requires close work with the clinical and non-clinical caregivers, project managers and other information service professionals in order to enumerate requirements from the various groups of stakeholders. Use knowledge of clinical workflow to autonomously advise and participate in the implementation of electronic medical record technologies.

Basic Qualifications:

  • 4+ years of experience in a professional work environment
  • 2+ years of experience with clinical workflow design and re-engineering
  • Experience with EHR implementation
  • Ability to assess information and knowledge-based needs of healthcare professionals and patients; characterizes, evaluates, and refines clinical decision support systems, and leads or participates in the procurement, customization, development, implementation, management, evaluation, and continuous improvement of clinical information systems, including EHRs and order-entry systems
  • Ability to work independently
  • Master’s degree in Healthcare, Healthcare IT, Biology, Medicine, Science, Math, Physics, or an additional 8+ years of experience working in a professional environment in lieu of degree requirements

Additional Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of experience with clinical workflow design and re-engineering
