Advanced Nuclear Energy Consultant

Key Role:

Maintain responsibility for the life cycle of fusion and advanced fission R&D programs as a nuclear energy Technology-to-Market Science, Engineering, and Technology Adviser (SETA) in close partnership with client leadership. Apply market and subject-matter knowledge to guide the seeding and growth of publicly financed R&D programs. Craft project-level strategies and management approaches that encourage a commercialization-oriented mindset to long-lead-time and complex R&D projects. Perform techno-economic analysis (TEA) and market assessments, as needed, to provide authoritative and actionable insights that enable sound portfolio decision-making. Perform direct and periodic oversight of T2M aspects of portfolio projects, from set-up to close-out, and aid client leadership to manage projects towards clear and compelling outcomes. Support agency-wide strategic initiatives, including research and analysis that enable client leadership to scope out and execute cross-cutting programs and strategies. This position requires the ability to travel up to two times per month.

Basic Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of experience in consulting, energy or energy-adjacent industries, energy-sector finance, or technology developments in the private sector
  • Knowledge of investment, business, market, and policy landscapes related to energy production required
  • Ability to bring, develop, and maintain a broad and collaborative network of stakeholders from diverse disciplines and sectors
  • Ability to transition across diverse subject matter areas along with the needs of the portfolio
  • Ability to travel up to two times per month
  • Ability to obtain a security clearance
  • BA or BS degree

Additional Qualifications:

  • Experience in developing and enabling the commercial trajectories of advanced nuclear fission or fusion energy systems
  • MA or MS degree preferred; PhD degree a plus
