Key Role:
Provide technical support to clients across the life cycle of innovation programs focusing on the development of advanced buildings heating and cooling technologies. Analyze client funded innovation technology portfolios and research ideas to support the formulation of new programs addressing heat pumps and advanced cooling systems. Provide expert assessment or proposals to identify the realism and potential of proposed HVAC technologies to markedly reduce the climate impact and cost to consumers of space heating and cooling. Conduct expert benefit analysis of relevant technologies and identify pathways for new products to come to market. Support and document technical workshops, which engage key stakeholder groups in the formulation of new programs. Develop strategic and expert technical and management project plans and conduct expert technical analyses and assessments of client projects. Recommend and implement project technical and management plans appropriate for the size, scope, and complexity of each project. This position is a hybrid role with a combination of working at a Booz Allen office or client site and working remotely.
Basic Qualifications:
2+ years of experience with authoring technical papers, reports, or program plans for technical and non-technical audiences on cutting-edge research related to HVAC technologies
2+ years of experience with postdoctoral, academic, or industry roles related to design or deployment of advanced HVAC systems
Ability to travel up to 25% of the time
Ability to obtain a security clearance
Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or Material Science
Additional Qualifications:
Experience working in a consulting environment
Experience with techno-economic or building energy modeling systems
Experience with life cycle assessments related to emissions in the buildings sector
Knowledge of codes and standards, including ASHRAE surrounding building HVAC equipment
Ability to demonstrate creativity and resourcefulness when dealing with uncertainty and ask insightful questions that challenge traditional thinking
Ability to display flexibility and adaptability and be team-oriented
Possession of excellent data gathering, analytical, problem-solving, and client service skills
Possession of excellent oral and written communication skills
Doctorate degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or Material Science
