Cloud Data Solutions Architect

Key Role:

Work on an array of applications, taking advantage of emerging Cloud technologies to provide improved application resiliency and the ability to self-serve. Generate innovative ideas and develop proofs of concepts and rapid prototypes alongside others. Consult and train other engineers on DevOps, Data, and Cloud solutions, including distributed version control and trunk-based development practices, infrastructure automation, monitoring and operations, and a well-architected Amazon Web Service (AWS) and Azure Cloud infrastructure. Empower other individuals, teams, and departments to responsibly self-serve and self-administer their Cloud deployment, administration, configuration, and other tasks related to securely delivering Cloud-native services and Cloud-based applications. Contribute to the ongoing development of Cloud security and data architecture strategies and drive the tactical implementation. Participate in remediation and continuous improvement within a Cloud environment with effective countermeasures and mitigation.

Basic Qualifications:

  • 12+ years of experience in enterprise data, including various aspects of data management, such as migration, ingestion, cleansing, governance, and ETL

  • 5+ years of experience architecting Cloud-based solutions, including AWS, or Azure

  • Experience in data modeling and database design, including conceptualization and database optimization

  • Experience in established and emerging data technologies; conversant in emerging tools, including columnar and NoSQL databases, predictive analytics, data visualization, and unstructured data

  • Experience in managing Hadoop clusters with services, including Hadoop v2, MapReduce, and HDFS

  • Experience with Big Data tools, including Pig, Hive, Impala, Spark, Elastic, NoSQL databases, HBase, Cassandra, MongoDB, and ETL

  • Experience with integration of data from multiple data sources

  • Knowledge of the system development life cycle and software project management approaches, including Agile, requirements, design, and test techniques

  • Ability to obtain a security clearance

  • BA or BS degree

Additional Qualifications:

  • Experience with building stream-processing systems using solutions, including Storm or Spark-Streaming

  • Experience with various messaging systems, including Kafka, AWS Kinesis, or RabbitMQ

  • Experience with Big Data ML toolkits, including Mahout, SparkML, or H2O

  • Experience with Cloudera, MapR, and Hortonworks

  • Knowledge of various ETL techniques and frameworks, including Flume and Apache NiFi

  • Ability to astutely operate in uncertain environments with authority and influence

  • Ability to emphasize methodology, modeling, and governance while remaining technologically and politically neutral

  • Ability to solve any ongoing issues with operating the cluster
