Combat Systems Engineer

Key Role: 
Apply knowledge of engineering theories, principles, best practices, methods, analysis and research techniques in the investigation and resolution of complex technical problems associated with US Navy combat systems requirements, design, and testing. Advise and assist the Government in the planning and conduct of technical reviews and evaluation of programs to ensure the proper maturity of the design prior to the deployment of the system, as well as coordinating the efforts of a technical support staff in the performance of all assigned tasks. Review and evaluate the program’s progress and make recommendations to correct any identified technical deficiencies or risks impacting cost and schedule considerations. Oversee, assist with, participate in, or perform system requirements analysis, definition, and management, develop functional architectures, and conduct model and simulation efforts, system performance analysis, interface definition, and trade studies. Integrate new sensors and information and design, integrate, test, verify, and validate systems. Analyze various aspects of combat and weapon system functionality as related to integration with networks, including Integrated Fire Control (IFC).

Basic Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience in Navy AEGIS or SSDS combat system engineering, including fire control, electronics, sensor integration, or testing and certification.
  • Experience with Aegis Weapon System or SSDS
  • Experience in open software architecture experience and its application to the US NAVY Aegis Computing Infrastructure
  • Experience with applying system design processes to define the architecture, components, modules, interfaces, and data of a system to meet requirements
  • Experience with solving complex system of systems problems
  • BA or BS degree
  • Secret clearance

Additional Qualifications

  • Experience as a Surface Warfare Officer
  • MS in Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science or related field
  • AEGIS Training and Readiness Certification
