Database Engineer, Senior

The Opportunity:

Are you excited at the prospect of developing innovative solutions to enable secure and reliable operations of enterprise computer systems? We have an opportunity for you to use your leadership, strategy, and analytical skills to improve Booz Allen’s delivery to our clients. Your combination of people skills and technical expertise makes you the team hero, solving one problem after another. As a database administrator with a solid background in managing enterprise-level databases and their underlying servers, you know how to manage and secure database technology. At Booz Allen, you can use those skills to improve the database technology supporting our clients.

On our team, you will work individually or in a small integrated team, and will also lead a task, project, or team. You will ensure project completion and provide guidance and direction to lower-level technicians, specialists, and managers. You’ll provide technical expertise for database design, development, implementation, management, administration, information storage and retrieval, data flow, and analysis for SQL and NoSQL database systems across multiple environments, including production, development, and testing environments. You'll develop relational or Object-Oriented databases, database parser software, and database loading software, as required. You will project long-range requirements for database administration and design. You will work primarily at the front end of the lifecycle requirements through system acceptance testing and Initial Operational Capability (IOC). You will develop requirements from a project’s inception to its conclusion for a particular business and IT subject matter area. You will constantly look for ways to implement database tuning and performance optimization, perform backup and recovery, and design prototypes against logical models. You will work with teammates to evaluate security controls on databases, applications, and underlying operating systems.
