International Trade Compliance Manager, Lead

Key Role:

Manage export and import compliance programs and solving issues for assigned client accounts. Advise high-profile client-facing account teams engaged in international activities, including classified intelligence and defense programs, regarding International Trade Compliance (ITC) requirements and ensure that authorizations are obtained and managed. Maintain, socialize, and train with respect to assigned firmwide ITC compliance programs, and will support the ITC team and clients in the development, implementation and continuous improvement of all ITC programs and related policies and procedures, and special projects and other departmental responsibilities, as assigned. Design, manage and support the implementation, enforcement and continuous improvement of ethics and compliance programs to drive ethical behavior and a culture of compliance. Apply leading-edge principles, theories, and concepts; contributes to the development of new principles and concepts. Work on unusually complex problems and provides highly innovative solutions. Operate with substantial latitude for unreviewed action or decision; mentors or supervises employees in both firm and technical competencies.

Basic Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of experience in roles focused predominantly on international trade law and regulation and compliance programs, specifically in aerospace, defense or technology sectors

  • Experience in US export control, sanctions and customs regulation, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and associated classified program licensing protocols

  • Experience with compliance requirements and processes for international shipments and other cross-border transfers of hardware, software, technology and services

  • Experience with drafting export license applications and requests for use of license exemptions and exceptions

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office tools, including Microsoft Forms, Excel, PowerPoint, or Teams

  • Ability to determine the ITC classifications, including export classifications for firm solutions and technology

  • Ability to communicate effectively with audiences at all levels of the organization, including senior leadership and interpersonal expertise to gain the cooperation of others

  • Ability to demonstrate flexibility in prioritizing and completing tasks, work independently, and to exercise judgment about when to escalate potential conflicts to leadership

  • Top Secret clearance

  • Bachelor’s degree

Additional Qualifications:

  • Experience with workflow management tools including Tableau or SmartSheet

  • Knowledge of non-US international trade laws and regulations, such as the UK and EU Dual Use regimes

  • Ability to quickly master capabilities of new technology products
