Safety Specialist, Mid

Key Role:

Analyze, implement, and improve an organization's OSH policies and procedures to meet organizational objectives and governmental regulations. Apply expertise in OSH Management System principles and practices as well as consensus standards, including ISO 45001, OHSAS 18001, and ANSI Z10 to help develop and implement effective OSH risk management policies and procedures. Develop or contribute to solutions to a variety of problems of moderate scope and complexity., as needed Work independently and review or guide the activities of junior employees, if needed.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Experience with the development, implementation. assessment and improvement of OSH regulatory programs, management systems processes, and completing assessments for regulatory compliance and OSHMS conformance
  • Experience with using Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, SharePoint, and Publisher
  • Knowledge of OSHA laws and regulations, including 29 CFR 1904, 1910, 1926 and 1960, and international and national consensus standards, including ISO 45001, OHSAS 18001, ANSI Z10, and OSHA VPP, and hazard identification and risk assessment processes and methods
  • Ability to support effective OSH management programs on behalf of clients
  • Ability to develop presentations and briefings for client management and present to and train staff regarding OSH and ISMS subject matter
  • Ability to develop fact sheets and prepare reports
  • Public Trust clearance
  • BA or BS degree and 5+ years of experience with OSH or environmental work, or MA or MS degree and 3+ years of of experience with OSH or environmental work

Additional Qualifications:

  • Experience with the development, implementation, maintenance, assessment and improvement of management systems per international consensus standards, including ISO 45001, ISO 14001, and ISO 9001
  • Knowledge of communications methods, tools and processes
  • Ability to analyze and evaluate various types of data, develop trends, and provide recommendations for improvements based on these data and evaluations
  • ASP, CSP, CIH, CHMM, or SMS certification preferred
