Safety Specialist

Key Role:

Work as a member of multi-disciplinary environmental, health; and safety (EHS) project teams. Support efforts with client occupational safety and health (OSH) audits and inspections and for other customers regarding environmental and OSH compliance programs development, implementation, maintenance, auditing, and improvement. Utilize strong organizational, interpersonal, and writing skills to support efforts for analyzing safety regulations and their application in facility operations and maintenance, writing policy analysis and other forms of safety communications, customer engagement and collaboration for problem solving and conducting job hazard analysis, and identifying exposure assessment needs. Facilitate cooperative working relationships among customer organizations and project stakeholders.

Basic Qualifications:

  • 1+ years of experience with environmental or occupational health and safety compliance, management, and implementation activities
  • Experience with analysis, policy writing, and client support
  • Experience with customer engagement and collaboration for problem solving
  • Experience with incident investigation and incident trends analysis and reporting
  • Experience with conducting data analysis to identify trends and reporting out on organizational lessons learned
  • Experience with database business applications at the intermediate or advanced level for the purpose of identifying opportunities to develop operational controls and integration of safety requirements
  • Ability to be flexibility and adapt quickly within the working environment
  • Ability to perform expert level functions in MS Excel and to use other Microsoft Office products, including Word, PowerPoint, Access, SharePoint, and Publisher
  • BA or BS degree

Additional Qualifications:

  • Experience in government agency work environments
  • Knowledge of Environmental Regulations, including the Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, RCRA, CECRLA, NEPA, and Executive Order 13423, 13514, and 13693
  • Possession of excellent oral and written communications, including presentations
  • Completion of an accredited Management Systems Lead Auditor training
  • Certified Auditor in EHS Compliance or Management Systems
  • BA or BS degree in an EHS or related discipline preferred
