Safety Specialist

Key Role:

Work under supervision as a member of several multi-disciplinary occupational safety and health (OSH) project teams. Demonstrate knowledge of OSH requirements and expertise in organizational, interpersonal, and writing work. Maintain responsibility for supporting efforts with client OSH audits and inspections and the development, implementation, maintenance, auditing, and improvement of environmental and OSH compliance programs for other clients. Support efforts to analyze support efforts for analyzing safety regulations and their application in facility operations and maintenance, writing policy and other forms of safety communications, customer engagement and collaboration for problem solving, and conducting job hazard analysis and identifying exposure assessment needs pertaining to chemical and physical hazards. Facilitate cooperative working relationships among customer organizations and project stakeholders with differing missions.

Basic Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience with occupational safety and health (OSH) compliance, management, and implementation activities
  • Experience with consulting, including analysis, policy writing, client support, and verbal and written presentations
  • Experience with customer engagement and collaboration for problem solving
  • Experience with Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, SharePoint and Publisher
  • Experience with using data analysis to identify trends and report out on organizational lessons learned
  • Knowledge of database-type business applications for the purpose of identifying opportunities to develop operational controls and integration of safety requirements
  • Knowledge of safety incident investigation and incident trends analysis and reporting
  • Knowledge of Occupational Safety and Health Management Systems (OSHMS)
  • Ability to obtain a security clearance
  • BA or BS degree

Additional Qualifications:

  • Experience in government agency work environments
  • Knowledge of OSHA Regulations and related Executive Orders, including 29 CFR 1910, 1926, and 1904 and EO 12690
  • Ability to be flexible and adaptable within the working environment
  • Possession of excellent oral and written communications, including presentations
  • BA or BS degree in Safety Science, OSH, or related field preferred
