Communications Specialist, Senior

The Opportunity: 

Communication is vital to advancing an organization’s mission, but communicating complex ideas to diverse audiences is challenging. That’s why we need a Communications Specialist like you to help our client communicate with their internal and external stakeholders.

As a Communications Specialist, you’ll work with our clients to develop and execute comprehensive communications plans and strategies tailored to both internal and external audiences. Using your communications and strategic planning skills, you’ll work with special agents, administrative operations staff, and senior leadership to share their messages with public, private, and government sectors through social media posts, speeches, newsletters, email, and other multimedia platforms. Alongside a multi-functional consulting team, you’ll help our client take their communication ideas from conception to execution by leading brainstorming and requirements gathering sessions, assisting with media and event preparation, and developing and managing communications project schedules and plans.

You Have: 

  • 5+ years of experience developing written communications for public audiences

  • Experience with online content writing

  • Ability to develop and execute comprehensive communications plans

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust or Suitability/Fitness determination based on client requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree

Nice If You Have: 

  • 2+ years of experience in a leadership role, and managing and mentoring junior staff

  • Experience with media relations, including preparing spokespeople for TV, digital, and other media interviews

  • Experience with graphic design tools such as Canva and Adobe

  • Possession of strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills, tailored to various formats such as newsletters, press releases, speeches, and digital content

  • Master’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Journalism, or a related field

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual’s particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $75,600.00 to $172,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen’s total compensation package for employees.
