The Opportunity:
As a structural engineer, you understand the workings behind complex systems. That knowledge is key when it comes to ensuring our military’s testing facilities are prepared to support innovative technology. We are looking for a structural engineer who can use their skills to help modernize facilities in compliance with local, state, and federal codes while supporting our country’s next generation of tactical weaponry.
You will use your engineering skills to transform the Department of Defense (DoD) by helping to modernize the Navy’s premier facilities for ordnance, energetics, and explosive ordnance disposal solutions. You’ll lead efforts to build, renovate, and adapt our clients’ facility portfolio based on changing mission requirements. This will require knowledge of structural compliance within an energetic manufacturing environment with explosive arc considerations and explosion-proof equipment requirements. Our team is supporting modernization of facilities, energy, and infrastructure to rise to the challenge of the changing landscape around weapons testing. We, therefore, need a structural engineer who is proficient at completing facility design services, and supporting review of designs for compliance with code and energetic manufacturing processes to help our client realize state of the art facilities through construction and commissioning. In this role, you will directly support our Navy client with design solution development for structural systems and subsystems across a diverse portfolio of facility types.

You Have:
7+ years of experience with structural design in a professional environment
Experience designing and overseeing the construction and renovation of weapons test facilities and other structures to ensure their safety and durability
Experience developing designs for facilities projects using industry standard tools such as AutoCAD, REVIT, SAP 2000, or ETABS
Experience supporting review of facility designs for compliance with code and energetic manufacturing processes and commissioning of those systems through construction
Experience assessing structural vulnerability to blast loads
Knowledge of structural compliance within an energetic manufacturing and completing facility design services and local, state, and federal codes and standards around civil and environmental compliance
Knowledge of industry standards related to structural systems, including the International Building Code (IBC), Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC), NFPA, ANSI, and ASCE
Secret clearance
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Physics, or Mathematics
Professional Engineer License in the state of Maryland
Nice If You Have:
Knowledge of directed laboratories energy weapons, energy storage, and supporting infrastructure
Master’s degree in Engineering
Clearance:

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual’s particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $75,600.00 to $172,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen’s total compensation package for employees.
