Chief Research Scientist

Key Role:

Leverages advanced and specialized physics research expertise to test and analyze physical phenomena, conduct and shape R&D programs, and to support S&T client challenges. Applies leading-edge principles, theories, and concepts, and contributes to the development of new principles and concepts. Works on unusually complex problems and provides highly innovative solutions. Operates with substantial latitude for unreviewed action or decision, and mentors or supervises employees in both company and technical competencies.

Basic Qualifications:

• 15+ years of experience conducting analyses of hard and deeply buried underground facilities and the surrounding geology under applied loads, environmental conditions, and weapons effects
• Experience examining seismic, electrical or electromagnetics data to characterize underground facilities and hard and deeply buried targets
• Experience conducting systems engineering or research developing and advancing physics-based models relating to atmospheric transport or biological weapons effects
• Experience with computational dynamics and modeling, including solving partial differential equations using numerical methods such as finite element, finite volume, and finite difference
• Experience creating software tools that generate images with realistic, physics-based artifacts and qualities, supporting anomaly detection and classification
• Experience evaluating all project aspects of chemical and biological research
• Active TS/SCI clearance; willingness to take a polygraph exam
• Doctorate degree in Geoscience, Geophysics, or Hydrogeology

Additional Qualifications:

• Experience as a principal investigator
• Experience with DoD agencies
• Experience with military operations, biological command, control, communications, survivability, and hard target defeat
• Knowledge of systems engineering, data science, artificial intelligence, and machine learning
• Knowledge of weapons control technology
• TS/SCI clearance with a polygraph

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual’s particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $112,800.00 to $257,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen’s total compensation package for employees.
