Test Engineer

The Opportunity:

When a user tries new software, they expect it to be intuitive and run smoothly. Functionality, reliability, and user experience are key to successful software development—and that means rigorous testing. That’s why we need you, an experienced test engineer who knows how to thoroughly test software and hardware and work with developers to make sure our team releases the best software possible.   

As a test engineer on our team, you’ll use your experience to work with software developers, software engineers, network engineers, project leads, and customers to evaluate software developed for High Profile Airborne Communication Systems and Platforms in support of the U.S. Navy and U.S. Marine Corps. You’ll create test plans with test cases based on user stories. Using automated and manual processes, you’ll generate data and implement the test cases to observe how the software performs operate, then document the results and communicate defects to the development team so they can start improving the tool.  

You’ll automate continuous security and performance testing and monitor the health of custom developed software for state of the art and advanced airborne communications systems. This is an opportunity to supercharge your skills by writing the code to test. You’ll also broaden your experience in tightly integrated SW and HW systems, and gain skills in new areas such as digital engineering, requirements analysis, and system design while sharing your testing experience with your team.

You Have:   

  • Experience in manual testing of software systems and hardware components
  • Experience with test or project management software suites such as Jira, Confluence, and GitHub
  • Knowledge of military or government regulations for testing and test documentation, standards, and regulations
  • Ability to collaborate with development and engineering teams to quickly resolve issues and ensure quality standards are met
  • Ability to develop or execute test plans, test cases, and test scripts
  • Ability to identify, document, and track defects and issues
  • Ability to prepare detailed test reports and documentation, and provide as-needed and on-site support
  • Secret clearance
  • Bachelor’s degree in an IT or Engineering field
  • Ability to obtain a Security+ Certification within 6 months of start date

Nice If You Have:   

  • Experience deploying automated test tools or suites
  • Knowledge of airborne communications software and systems
  • Possession of excellent analytic and problem-solving skills
  • Possession of excellent communication and documentation skills 
  • Top Secret clearance
  • Security+ Certification
  • Professional Software Testing Certification

Clearance:

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual’s particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $84,600.00 to $193,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen’s total compensation package for employees.
