Space Systems Engineer

Join us as a Systems Engineer and play a pivotal role in accelerating space systems missions through cutting-edge engineering efforts. In this role, you will bridge the "Technology Valley of Death" by scouting technologies and guiding development from system effects demonstration to operational transition. You will have the opportunity to assess new technologies and techniques and develop integration plans ensuring system of systems interoperability. You'll collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet user requirements and operational needs. You'll conduct market surveys, analyze alternatives, and manage target performance metrics. You'll create solutions that support the Great Power Competition, advancing the future of PNT and communications in the Space Force.

You Have: 

  • 10+ years of experience with leading teams in DoD systems, with a focus on systems engineering for a range of mission applications, including AI, ML, command, control, communications, computers, cyber-defense, combat systems, intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance

  • Experience in assessing industry capabilities, developing strategies for operationalizing PNT and communication systems prototypes into funded projects, and early technology research leading to maturation and adoption

  • Experience in effectively managing relationships with clients and stakeholders in a dynamic environment

  • Knowledge of the operational, integration, and acquisition challenges within the GPS enterprise

  • Secret clearance

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Mathematics, or Physics

Nice If You Have: 

  • Experience executing DoD Science and Technology (S&T) or similar technology maturation processes performed by DoD or national research laboratories

  • Experience leading a team using a Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) approach to manage system definitions and technical baselines

  • Experience in architecture planning resulting in well-orchestrated, evolutionary improvement of a system or system-of-systems

  • Experience creating or developing resilient PNT capabilities or solutions that address vulnerabilities or capability gaps

  • Knowledge of the operational, integration, and acquisition challenges within a Global Navigation Satellite System

  • Ability to demonstrate a proven track record of securing funding and prioritizing projects, including through innovative strategies and creative exploitation of processes

  • TS/SCI clearance  

  • Master’s degree in Engineering, Mathematics, or Physics

  • Systems Engineering Professional Certification, including ASEP, CSEP, or ESEP Certification

Clearance:

Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information; Secret clearance is required.

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual’s particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $84,600.00 to $193,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen’s total compensation package for employees.
