NodeJS Developer

The Opportunity:

Are you looking for an opportunity to not just develop software, but to help build a system that will positively impact the lives of our nation’s Veterans?  As a Developer, you can solve a problem with a complete end-to-end solution in a fast-paced environment. We’re looking for an experienced Developer with the ability to support a team designing, developing, and deploying a new enterprise-wide electronic workspace serving Veteran healthcare providers.

We are currently in search of a skilled Full Stack Developer to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for both frontend and backend development, creating and maintaining an accessible, responsive, and highly available, high-performance user interface. You will design, implement, and maintain server-side applications, ensuring the creation and optimization of RESTful APIs to facilitate seamless communication between frontend and backend components. The backend component will integrate with several external APIs to include Single Sign-On and OAuth services and retrieval of clinical data from the VA electronic health record (EHR). The backend component will leverage a relational database and possibly in-memory data stores such as Redis. The frontend and backend components will be built into containers that are deployed on top of AWS services.

Join us. The world can’t wait.

You Have:

  • 6+ years of experience as a Software Engineer, including the development of APIs and web application backends

  • 4+ years of experience in JavaScript development, including TypeScript, with a strong focus on API development in NodeJS

  • 4+ years of experience with developing applications that read and write to relational database systems such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, or SQL Server

  • Experience with collaborating with internal teams to produce software design documents and architecture diagrams

  • Experience with excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Knowledge of object-oriented design principals

  • Knowledge of modern and legacy API communication protocols like SOAP, REST, and RPC

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust or Suitability/Fitness determination based on client requirements

  • HS diploma or GED

Nice If You Have:

  • 2+ years of experience with Docker, CI/CD pipelines, and VS Code

  • 2+ years of experience with ReactJS or another reactive JS framework, such as VueJS or Angular

  • 2+ years of experience with NoSQL databases, such as Mongo, Cosmos, or Dynamo

  • Experience with integrating SSO authentication services that use OAuth 2.0

  • Experience of the AdonisJS web framework and Prisma ORM
