Technical Writer

Key Role:
Writes and updates material, such as reports, manuals, briefs, proposals, instruction books, catalogs, and related technical and administrative publications concerned with procedures, process, and guidelines. Writes and edits technical documentation and user manuals for various audiences. Applies specific functional, working, and general industry knowledge. Develops and implements the appropriate medium for the target audience when writing manuals, online videos, and graphics. Edits material prepared by other writers or staff. Disseminate technical information in easy-to-understand language for a non-technical audience.

Basic Qualifications:  

  • 5+ years of experience with technical writing, presentation design, and editing technical reports or policy language program and project deliverables

  • Experience using the Microsoft Office 365 suite

  • Experience in strong communications and interacting with SME’s, clients and users

  • Ability to work with senior leaders, respond to rapidly changing priorities, pay strict attention to detail, and adapt writing style to meet varying needs of stakeholders at varying levels

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust or Suitability/Fitness determination based on client requirements 

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, English, or IT

Additional Qualifications:  

  • Knowledge of Illustrator, Photoshop, and Visio

  • Ability to be organized 

  • Ability to adapt to industry trends and tools

  • Possession of excellent planning skills to organize and structure content effectively

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual’s particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $54,000.00 to $123,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen’s total compensation package for employees.
